Perfume Review: Rose Anonyme Extrait by Atelier Cologne

Rose fragrances tend to be and options mostly for warmer months or autumn as the floral scents are not particularly strong and detectable in the cold, but some of them are actually powerful enough for any season one example is Rose Anonyme “Extrait” from Atelier Cologne, the original version comes in a clear glass bottle.

The notes are exactly the same BUT they differ in the top note, while the original Rose Anonyme has Turkish Rose Absolute while the “Extrait” version instead has Bulgarian Rose. What is the difference between one and the other?

Because of the competition of Bulgarian rose oil, Turkish producers have given priority to extraction producing concrete and absolute, both products are produced on a large scale. Usually, because of the important distances between collection points and factories, rose flowers start to ferment in the bags before distillation, giving Turkish rose oil a distinct “jam” facet which differentiates from Bulgarian notes freshness.

NOTES

  • Top Note: Bergamot, Ginger
  • Heart Note: Bulgarian Rose, Frankincense, Oud
  • Base Note: Patchouli, Vetiver, Papyrus

I haven’t tried the original version but I know it has 18% of concentration while “Extrait” has 22% which it’s a real good amount for what conventional perfumery uses. Now this is an oriental rose scent not a floral one and that’s another difference with the original one, so it opens up with a bergamot and ginger and pretty soon the rose shows up, a bit spicy but fresh combined with the  top notes, as it dries down we can smell the patchouli, papyrus and vetiver replaced bezoin that is used in the original version, so on here the vetiver gives it characteristic woody as well as earthy touch. so it start a fresh rose to quickly develop to a earthy oud one.

A truly stunning oriental rose with a good sillage and projection of around 3 meters and a duration of 8 hours on skin.

Rose Anonyme Extrait is available in 30 ml, 100 ml and 200 ml at Atelier Cologne Website
