Review: Wishful, Clean Genie Cleansing Balm

Huda Beauty keeps expanding after the release of the fragrance brand Kayali, now is the turn of Wishful the skincare range, Introducing Clean Genie Cleansing Balm, this a balm to oil to milk formula is literally like butter, fast-melting and gentle on skin and eyes but tough in its make up-melting capability.

This is basically a cleansing balm, ideal for the first cleanse in case you double cleanse and as a wonderful make up-remover, the texture is like a solid butter all you need to do is take off a little amount of product and start to massage the face, it would turn intermediately in oily milky texture. I would still recommend to do a second cleanse with a water gel product to make sure you remove all make and SPF leftover.

INGREDIENTS

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Peg-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Peg-5 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Polyethylene, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Malachite Extract, Prunus Yedoensis Leaf Extract, Prunus Lannesiana Flower Extract, Prunus Serrulata Flower Extract, Ascorbic Acid, Malic Acid, Tocopherol, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Aluminum Hydroxide, Water / Aqua / Eau, Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance / Parfum, Benzyl Benzoate, Citronellol, Hydroxycitronellal, Limonene, Titanium Dioxide / Ci 77891, Blue 1 Lake / Ci 42090, Yellow 5 Lake / Ci 19140.

Now having a look at the ingredients I’m glad Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is first, this a emollient made of fatty acids derived from coconut oil and glycerin pretty good to avoid moisture loss. Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract work pretty well as antioxidant (this is basically green tea), Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C working as antioxidant), the main active ingredients here are:

  • Green Tea Extract: Maintains moisture and soothes skin while visibly clarifying and pulling out impurities for a radiant-looking complexion.
  • Cherry Blossom Extract: Conditions skin, leaving it feeling soft and supple.
  • Malachite Stone: Known to have antioxidant properties, it keeps skin free from environmental aggressors which contribute to clogged pores and a dull complexion.

But there are few things I don’t like such as Polyethylene, this is a type of microplastic that sadly ends up in the sea, the other I don’t like are Fragrance / Parfum, Citronellol, Hydroxycitronellal, Limonen, they are last in the list but still why skincare products keep adding fragrance to their products when they don’t need it.

This cleansing balm is for all skin types, is a powerful cleanser when it comes to remove the most full coverage and pigmented make up or the the most tough mascara, doesn’t leave the skin dry at all, doesn’t contains any drying ingredient, my skin got on very well with it but others with high sensitive skin could struggle with the fragrance, if the brand would take it off same as the Polyethylene then it would a totally perfect cleansing balm, it’s already vegan and cruelty free with great results.

Wishful Clean Genie Cleansing Balm comes in a 100 gr pot and is available at Cult Beauty
