Late April 2008. There it was, bold as brass in the middle of a bouquet of red roses: a very tall peony, spreading its petals out with the opulence of a couture gown. So if you smell a whiff of black pepper and aniseed that unfurl to reveal the unmistakable bouquet of French peony and Turkish roses, there she is.

In a perfume world where white florals are predominant right now, I’m quite happy to bring an option that escapes from that and brings a high quality luxurious floral scent, Peony Couture is an elegant, feminine and a great combination of roses and peonies. It opens up with a predominant spicy rose accord, very soft with a little touch of sweetness, the rose here is very shy at the beginning at develops to become a fresh rose tea with spices, as it dries down we can discover sweet creamy peonies at some point it becomes a bit powdery but not much, is a nice sweet floral scent with some spiciness but it never becomes way too sweet, is extremely elegant and feminine definitely I haven’t smell anything like this before, it has a lot of personality, really nice option for anyone into florals looking for a signature fragrance to represent them as this is quite unique and luxurious.
Peony Couture is exclusively available at Liberty London, Vilhelm’s website and at the brand Paris boutique.
