If we talk about designers who are doing playing the beauty game quite hard we have to mention Tom Ford, his perfumes became quite popular and just like other luxury brands like Jo Malone, Aerin, etc under the wing of Estee Lauder is has a high price tag, the question is..is really worth it or is just a brand hype? I have tried quite a few of the fragrances from this house and yes some of them are not worth the money at all and others are really good and that’s the case of Black Orchid.

Black Orchid is probably one of the top seller products from the Tom Ford Beauty line, if we have a look at the notes we can guess that we are in front a very strong perfume hence why you love it or you hate it, if you like moderate to light fragrances type you better avoid this, now in perfumery first impressions do not work, you get to know a fragrance real personality after you let it dry down after 15-20 minutes, this is important to keep in mind because if you spray Black Orchid and immediately smell it you would get a very dirty strong smell that would totally put you off.
Black Orchid is an opulent, classic, rather dark perfume, it is a luxurious and sensual fragrance, with an intoxicating trace of the Black Orchid, which gives the dark point to the perfume along with the spices. It is modern and timeless and has a very high duration and a very wide sillage
Thought for women, there are many men who do not hide to say that they use this perfume, the wooden base on their skin gives it a very masculine touch, so it would be a unisex perfume, but with nuances, there are people which considers it more masculine than some of the fragrances that are made for men today. It smells of dark chocolate, earthy truffle, not pastry, but a little more earthy, and flowers, not specific ones but something like a potpourri of flowers, It has an immediate impact, heavy, with a lot of impetus, it has class and a dark and incense point, magnetic even.
Is a perfume with a lot of personality, is luxurious and magnetic if we have to represent it in a woman I would say is a professional business type, Classy, elegant and with a mysterious magnetism that catch everyone attention, although if I man decides to wear it I certainly wouldn’t feel like he smells like a woman at all, this is part of the magic from Black Orchid.
The duration, sillage and projection are quite intense, is all day long fragrance, now if we have to talk about the price yes it’s more expensive than others but certainly is worth the money, but certainly is not for a blind purchase try to find a sample or tester first but if you are into Oriental Gourmands you certainly will love it!.
