Review: Thalgo, Spiruline Boost Skincare Collection

Probably you have already heard before about Spirulina supplements for the body, is actually considered a super food that contains a large amount of essential nutrients. In case you never heard about it, spirulina is a blue green algae that can be collected from the surface of the lakes and for so many years it has been used merely as dietary supplement but as the beauty industry keep researching for new ingredients today we can start to see it on skincare products due to the all the benefits on the skin spirulina has shown to have. One of the brands that released a whole collection with it as the star ingredient is Thalgo. The whole collection came out this year and includes a face cream, a serum, booster vials, eye cream and detox shots sticks, the range is very complete and have been using all of them for a couple of weeks and now that I finished the treatment i want to share my experience.

This serum with a fresh and translucent texture is ultra-concentrated in energising Spirulina and boosted with Marine Magnesium. I know when a serum is going to get on well with my skin when I can see the results in very few days, I used it day and night and noticed my skin far less dry but not oily, with a nice natural glow and really soft, I had a massive hormonal and stress acne breakout and this serum helped a lot to control the situation.

A 7 day “booster” treatment with energising Spirulina boosted with Marine Magnesium, Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C, for express skin revitalisation. This a 7 days treatment to go a bit further with skincare, You get two uses out of one vial, half for the day and half for the night you can close the vial after the first use using the resealable upper section. I have used ampules from other brands and seriously never saw any result that would make me repurchase them, in this case I noticed a good glow and hydration of my skin that lately was quite dry and dull, I saw results after the second day, it can be used before the serum or replace the serum with this, I personally used it before the serum to improve the results of it and get obviously the benefits of the ampule.

I normally don’t get impressed by eye creams that much but I’m not sure if it was the cream or the amazing triple ball rolling included in the packaging but this product was so good, I normally wake up with congested and puffy eyes that actually take me a while before feeling awake but while I was using this product the changes were massive, it gives a refreshing and awaking feeling that I can properly open my eyes in the morning and have a fresh look, it hydrate the skin around the eye area very well without leaving it greasy, so I can very easily apply any make up later, I don’t have fine lines or wrinkles (yet) but so far it helped to keep the area well moisturised and the roller gives such a relaxing massage.

This gel-cream enriched in energising Spirulina and boosted in Marine Magnesium, contains an algae complex that forms an invisible protective film on the surface of the skin. This true “shield” protects the skin from external stress factors and works to prevent fine polluting particles from settling on the skin. Day after day, the first wrinkles are smoothed, the skin gains in radiance and resists the stress of daily life better. This cream together with the serum and the booster vials helped me a lot with a very nasty hormonal acne break out I had like a months ago, seriously any other cream would only cause more damage to my skin, it was so sensitive and the fact that my skin was looking awful gave me even more stress and this cream each day helped me to calm down my skin and go back to normal, the cream is for all skin types but as the texture is quite light anyone with combination oily skin and prone to acne might find it extra useful.

I have to admit that I’m not the kind of person who takes supplements but sometimes I feel like a have a lack of nutrients, so for a week (the box has 7 sticks) every morning I drank a glass of spirulina hoping this would help me with the crazy hormonal situation of that time of the month and my skin breaking out. So what we basically have here is a shot combining spirulina, marine magnesium and natural vitamin C from acerola, which work together to reduce fatigue. It is enriched in chlorella, which promotes detoxification, sometimes I can wake up feeling extremely tired even after sleeping a good amount oh hours and can keep feeling exhausted the whole morning which is not ideal if you have to go to work, I felt better after taking the juice/smoothie that has a lemon mint flavour before breakfast during my meditation hour before starting my journey. In fact I actually think it helped me with my breakout as you might know acne also is caused by the type of food we consume.

Spiruline Boost is available in a box with 7 sticks for £30 at Thalgo Website

So far this collection from Thalgo was great to try out and it’s a good option if you tend to suffer of sensitive skin, hormonal acne or lack of natural glow and life in the skin, the brand itself has very gentle products never had an issue with them considering how extremely complicated my skin and body is.

I hope you enjoyed the post, feel free to leave any question or comment!
